Schedule:

Day 1__Arrive in Shanghai

Arrive in Shanghai, you are greeted by your guide at the airport and transferred to the hotel. According to your arrival flight, we will suggest the activities for today.

 

Day 2__Shanghai

Take a city tour to visit the city's major attractions and get a general understanding of this city. Shanghai Museum: one of the best in China, to learn the history of this city. Eleven galleries spread over four floors offer an artistic historical tour of the Middle Kingdom dating from as far back as 20 centuries B.C.E. Jade, Ming and Qing dynasty furniture and traditional Chinese calligraphy are a few of the highlights.

Oriental Pearl TV Tower: This 468 meters (1,536 feet) high tower is the world's sixth and China's second tallest TV and radio tower. However, even more alluring than its height is the unique architectural design that makes the Oriental Pearl TV Tower one of the most attractive places anywhere. Its base is supported by three seven-meter wide slanting stanchions. Surrounding the eleven steel spheres that are 'strung' vertically through the center of the tower are three nine-meter wide columns. Yu Garden: you will stroll along the lovely paths and pavilions of Yu Garden in Shanghai Old City and at the same time experience Shanghai recently gained modernity.

The Bund: And then you will walk along and admire both sides of the harbor. The Bund, also called Zhongshan Dong Yi Lu (East Zhongshan 1st Road), is a famous waterfront and regarded as the symbol of Shanghai for hundreds of years. It is on the west bank of Huangpu River from the Waibaidu Bridge to Nanpu Bridge and winds 1500 meters (0.93 mile) in length. The most famous and attractive sight which is at the west side of the Bund are the 26 various buildings of different architectural styles including Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classicism and the Renaissance.

 

      

Day 3__Shanghai to Chengdu

Day tour visit Zhujiajiao Water Town.

Zhujiajiao Water Town: It is a water town on the outskirts of Shanghai, and was established about 1,700-year ago. 36 stone bridges and numerous rivers line Zhujiajiao, and many ancient buildings still line the riverbanks today. In the afternoon, you will take flight to Chengdu.

 

Day 4__Chengdu

Chengdu city tour:In the morning:

Giant Panda Breeding Centre: to see beautiful and lovely panda bears. The Centre has been created and imitated the pandas' natural habitat in order that they might have the best possible environment for rearing and breeding.

Wenshu Temple: is dedicated to the Bodhisattva and is Chenggdu's largest and best-preserved Buddhist temple.

Jinli Street: it is the concentration of Chengdu nightlife, snacks and folk culture.

 

Day 5__Chengdu to Lhasa

Today you will fly to Lhasa. Upon arrival, your guide of Tibet section will greet you at the airport and send you to the hotel. The rest time is at your own leisure to acclimatize to the high altitude.

 

Day 6__Lhasa

Lhasa city tour:

Potala Palace: built in the 7th century by the famous Tibetan king-Songtzen Gampo. The present one was built by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. It became known as the "Winter Palace" by the 1750, when the 7th Dalai Lama built the Norbulingka Park as his summer residence.

     

 

Jokhang Temple: situated in the old section of Lhasa. King Songtzen Gampo built this temple in the mid-7th century A.D. Now it is the most sacred place in Tibet. Pilgrims come here to pay homage from all over Tibet.

After that you will wander in Barkhore Street.

 

Day 7__Lhasa

Lhasa city tour:

Drepung Monastery: it is the largest of the monastery of the Gelug Sect in Tibet. Drepung Monastery was known for the high standards of its academic study, and was called the Nalanda of Tibet, a reference to the great Buddhist monastic university of India. Chapman reported that in the late 1930's Drepung was divided into four colleges, each housing monks from a different locality.

Norbulingka Park: In 1752, the 7th Dalai Lama built the first palace here for successive Dalai Lamas to carry out their political and religious activities during the summer season. Today Norbulingka has become a public park for picnicking, relaxing and entertainment.

 

Day 8__Lhasa to Gyantse to Shigatse  

Today we will drive to Shigatse. You will see dazzling Yamdrok-tso Lake and visit Pelkor Chode Monastery on the way.

Yamdrok-tso Lake (4441m): is one of Three Holy Lake in Tibet. It can be seen from the summit of the Kamba-la pass (4794m). Yamdrok-tso is shaped like a coiling scorpion. It doubles back on itself on the western side, effectively creating a large island within its reaches. For Tibetans, it is one of the four holy lakes and home to wrathful deities.

 

 

Pelkor Chode Monastery (4040m): The Monastery is founded in 1418, notable for its superb Kumbum Chode (10,000 Images Stupa). The sprawling compound in the far north of town houses Pelkor Chode Monastery and the monumental Gyantse Kumbum, a chorten filled with fine paintings and statues.

 

Day 9__Shigatse to Lhasa

Morning visit Tashilunpo Monastery, and then we will drive back to Lhasa along Yarlong Tsangpo River by the Nepal friendship road. After check in, rest time is free at your own leisure.

Tashilunpo Monastery: was Built in1447 by the first Dalai Lama, and then the spectacular tombs of Panchen Lamas. Also called the Heap of Glory, it is located at the foot of Drolmari (Tara's Mountain), Shigatse. Founded by the First Dailai Lama in 1447, the monastery's structure was expanded by the Fourth and successive Panchen Lamas. Covering an area of nearly 300,000 square meters (3,229,279 sq. ft.), the main structures found here are The Maitreya Chapel, The Panchen Lama's Palace and The Kelsang Temple. Tashilhunpo is the seat of the Panchen Lama since the Fourth Panchen Lama took charge in the monastery, and there are now nearly 800 lamas.

 

    

 

Day 10__Lhasa to Xi’an

Today you will fly to Xi’an, which is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China.

 

Day 11__Xi’an

Xi’an day tour:

Terracotta Warriors: is the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century. It was listed by UNESCO in 1987 as one of the world cultural heritages.

Ancient City Wall: is the most complete city wall that has survived in China, as well being one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world.

Muslim Square: is the collective name for a number of streets, including Beiyuanmen Street, North Guangji Street, Xiyangshi Street and Dapiyuan Street, and it has become a famous attraction of Xi’an for its profound Muslim cultural atmosphere.

 

Day 12__Xi’an to Beijing

You will take morning flight to Beijing. Upon arrival, we visit the Summer Palace.

Summer Palace: was built 800 years ago. It is the second largest and best-preserved royal garden in China, with 294 hectares including the beautiful and serene Kunming Lake.

 

      

 

Day 13__Beijing

Beijing city tour:

Temple of Heaven: at where emperors performed annual rituals of sacrifice to ensure prosperity for future generations.

Forbidden City: is the largest palace of the world. It has 9999 halls and rooms in which emperors lived for over 500 hundred years in Ming and Qing dynasties.

Tian An Men Square: you will take a leisure walk around the Square to admire the grandeur of the largest public squares in the world.

 

Day 14__Beijing

Great Wall tour:

The Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall: one of the eight ancient wonders of between 6000- 6500km long built over several centuries to keep out the invading northern tribes. After a hike along a portion of the Wall, we drive back to the city.

 

Day 15__Departure

Your China Classic and Tibet Tour will be near the end. You will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
