Yunnan's major rivers flow through the deep valleys between the mountains. You will find towering mountain ranges and fascinating local culture here.

After breakfast, we will head out to Yunnan famed Stone Forest, a geological wonder and UNESCO world heritage site. And then we will drive to Dali. It takes about 5 hours. After check in, you will visit Dali Ancient Town.

Stone Forest: is a conglomeration of utterly bizarre but stunning karst geology. It’s believed that the Stone Forest is over 270 million years old. The area is used to be an ocean. During the Long Geological Period from the late Permian Period 230 million years ago to 2 million years ago, the ocean subsided and giant rocks appeared. During this time the rocks were gradually worn away by water, forming the strange rock forms seen today.

Dali Ancient Town: is located on the foot of the picturesque Cangshan Mountain, about 13 kilometers to the new city of Dali. It was built in Ming dynasty in 1382, and named as the one of the first historical and cultural cities. Lying on the edge of Erhai Lake at the base of the splendid Cangshan Mountains, Dali Old Town is a truly beautiful setting. The city is the home of the Bai ethnic minority and its ancient quarter still retains its old world charm with narrow cobbled streets and traditional stone architecture within original city walls.

D3__Dali

In the morning cormorant fishing on Erhai Lake is followed by a visit to Bai batik. On Mondays we’ll head to Shaping village for the weekly market. Further around the lake we’ll pass through the serene villages of Wase and Shuanglong perched on the east side of the Erhai. In the afternoon we will vist Dali’s famed Three Pagodas.

Three Pagodas: with 1800 years history. It is a symbol of Dali City, and a record of the development of Buddhism in the area. As its name implies, Three Pagodas are made of three ancient independent pagodas forming a symmetrical triangle.

D4__Dali to Lijiang

After visit Cang Mountain, we will head to Lijiang. It takes about 4 hours by car. Upon arrival, we will check in the hotel. And then we will wander in Dayan Ancient Town (Lijiang Ancient town).

Cang Mountian: this range of gorgeous peaks rises imposingly above Dali and offers the best legwork in the area.

Dayan Ancient Town (Lijiang Ancient town): is prestigious for its unique system of waterways and bridges built by Naxi People’s with their special culture background. There are almost 350 varied and inimitable bridges in the little town, some of which were built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

D5__Lijiang

In the morning we'll visit Shuhe Acient Town. After that you will visit Baisha Village and Rock’s Former Residence.

Shuhe Acient Town: is the relic of the Tea-Horse Trading Caravan from bank of Mekong River to India via Tibet. We will walk from Long Quan (Drangon Spring) in Shuhe Old Town to Baisha Village

Baisha village: is a small village on the plain north of Lijiang, near several old temples. Before Kublai Khan made it part of his Yuan empire (1271-1368), Baisha was the capital of the Naxi Kingdom.

Former Residence of Rock Joseph: Rock Joseph was the first foreign scholar to introduce Lijiang ethnic culture to the western world. It’s located at Yuhu Village. The houses were made by the Naxi people out of a unique stone call 'monkey head'. The stone is something between stone and mud. With the reflection of the stone on the snow mountain, houses made of ‘monkey head look even more natural and beautiful.
