Day 1 Beijing

Arrive in Beijing, the capital of China. You are greeted by your guide at the airport and transferred to the hotel. The rest time is free at your own leisure.

 

Day 2 Beijing

Day tour starts from the Forbidden City, in scripted as a UNESCO world cultural heritage site in 1987. It is the largest palace of the world complex covering 74 hectares. It has 9999 halls and rooms in which emperors lived for over 500 hundred years in Ming and Qing dynasties. And then we will take a leisure walk around Tian An Men Square to admire the grandeur of the largest public squares in the world. In the afternoon, we will take rickshaws through Beijing's Hutong, experiencing the lifestyle of the Beijing locals. You will have an opportunity to make a paper cut. The Chinese paper cut is a national handicraft with profound cultural connotations. It is an opportunity to make a traditional Chinese handicraft in the Hutong area. It is easy to learn and only requires a pair of scissors and paper, but a good paper cut requires a great deal of skill in cutting and paper selection. The teacher will share the basic skills of this craft. You can ask your teacher, if you want to take home the fruit of your labor.

 

Day 3 Beijing

After breakfast, we will visit the Great Wall, one of the eight ancient wonders of between 6000- 6500km long built over several centuries to keep out the invading northern tribes. After a hike along a portion of the Wall, we visit the Ming Tombs, a secluded valley housing 14 imperial burial mounds.

 

Day 4 Beijing - Xi'an

In the morning, we visit the Summer Palace which was built 800 years ago. It is the second largest and best-preserved royal garden in China, with 294 hectares including the beautiful and serene Kunming Lake. After lunch, we will visit Green Olympic. We will explore the park, but it doesn't include going inside the Bird's Nest and Water Cube. After that, you will take flight to Xi’an.

 

Day 5 Xi'an

After breakfast, we will take flight to Xi’an. Upon arrival, we will visit Terracotta Warriors. It is the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century. It was listed by UNESCO in 1987 as one of the world cultural heritages. The museum covers an area of 16,300 square meters, divided into three sections: No. 1 Pit, No. 2 Pit, and No. 3 Pit respectively. Then visit Ancient City Wall. It's the most complete city wall that has survived in China, as well being one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world. And then we will walk around at Muslim Square.

 

Day 6 Xi'an

Today we will pay a visit to Shaanxi Provincial History Museum. The museum's permanent exhibition primarily displays Shaanxi's ancient history. The collection from the Han through the Tang (618 A.D.-907 A.D.) and Song (960 A.D.-1279 A.D.) dynasties shows the changes of art and craftsmanship. After lunch, you will visit the famous Shuyuanmen Culture Street to appreciate the delicate traditional art crafts. The rest time is at your own leisure.

 

Day 7 Xi'an - Chongqing

Today you will take flight from Xi’an to Chongqing. Once we arrive in Chongqing. We will have a leisure walk in Ciqikou Ancient Street. This lively old area has been partly restored, and remains an authentic and busy community. The old wooden houses and narrow streets furthest from the river are mostly unimproved, closer to the river there are craft and souvenir shops, teahouses and music, and lots of local food and snacks. The locals certainly love their food this is a good chance to try some. After dinner you will board the Yangtze Cruise.

 

Day 8 Yangtze Cruise

After breakfast, visit the Ghost City of Fengdu County on the moring. Fengdu is where the devil lives, according to Chinese legend. The whole place has an eerie feel to it with deserted streets, tower blocks, empty shops and banks. The only people here are those who make a living from visiting cruise boats. The Captain's Welcome Party will be held.

 

Day 9 Yangtze Cruise

Take a small boat to Shennong Stream in the afternoon. Shennong Stream is another tributary of the Yangtze River, and its fast-flowing, crystal clear water runs southwards through deep gorges. In the evening, various activities and performances are included on the cruise. Performances include costume shows, magic shows. Sichuan Opera and the Magical Mask Changing are sometimes included.

 

Day 10 Yichang - Shanghai

Today first visit Three Gorges Dam, the largest water conservancy project ever undertaken by man. It has been a dream for several generations of Chinese people. It will be 2,335 meters long, 185 meters high, 18 meters wide on the top and 130 meters wide at the bottom. The tourists can get access to the top of the dam and enjoy different kinds of photo opportunities. When the cruise ends, transferred to the airport and take a flight to Shanghai. In the evening we will take Huangpu River cruise along the riverfront Bund and admire the night lights on both sides of the harbor.

 

Day 11 Shanghai

After breakfast we will visit Shanghai Museum, mainly the exhibitions of painting, bronze, sculpture, ceramics, calligraphy, jade, Ming & Qing Dynasty furniture, coins, seals, and ethnic artwork. And then we will stroll along the lovely paths and pavilions of Yu Garden in Shanghai Old City and at the same time experience Shanghai recently gained modernity.

 

Day 12 Departure

Your 12 Days Yangtze Cruise and China City Tour is near the end. You will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
