Chengdu-Qinghai-Tibet Overland Tour

Day 1 Chengdu - Pingwu - Jiuzhaigou

We will depart from Chengdu to Jiuazhaigou in the morning. Today is a long driving day. But the scenery on the way is quite nice. You will have the chance to meet Baima Tibetan people.


Day 2 Jiuzhaigou

Today, we will spend a whole day tour on exploring Jiuzhaigou Valley. It becomes a well known scenic area and a natural reserve for wild animals and plants in China. Jiuzhaigou Valley contains the largest variety of sites and is typically visited first, such as Five-Coloured Lake, Sparking Lake, The Changhai Lake, Swan Lake, Panda Lake, Nuorilang Waterfall, etc.


Day 3 Jiuzhai - Hunaglong - Ruoergai (Zoige)

After breakfast, we will drive ahead to Huanglong, which is famed for its colorful pools, snow-capped mountains, deep forests, waterfalls and colorful cultures. In addition, the area is also home to many endangered animals, including the giant panda and the Sichuan golden snub-nosed monkey. Huanglong National Park was denominated a special scenic spot of China in 1982 and entered "The Natural Legacy Lists of the World" in 1992. And then we will drive to Ruoergai.


Day 4 Ruoergai (Zoige) - Hezuo 

Today we will drive in Gannan region via Ruoergai (Zoige) grassland, enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way, which is the way for the Red Amy in the past. Visit the pearl of high land-Huahu Lake. And then we will visit Langmusi (Taktsang Lhamo) straddling the border between Sichuan and Gansu. It is a delightful place, surrounded by countless red and white monastery buildings, flapping prayer flags and the mesmerizing sound of monks chanting at twilight. After that we will ahead to Hezuo.



Day 5 Hezuo - Xining 

Today we will drive to Xining, the capital of Qinghai province. This lively provincial capital makes a perfect springboard from which to dive into the surrounding sights and on to the more remote regions of Qinghai and beyond. And the populace is an interesting mix Hui, Slar, Uighur, Tibetan and Han Chinese.


Day 6 Xining - Qinghai Lake 

After breakfast, we will visit one of the six important Monasteries in China-Taer Si Monastery (Kumbum Monastery). And then we will continue to Riyueshan, and visit the Qinghai Lake-the biggest fresh water lake in China.


Day 7 Qinghai lake - Bird island - Chaka 

This morning we will visit the Bird Island. And then we will drive to Chaka and visit Chaka Salt Lake.


Day 8 Chaka - Dulan - Golmud 

Today is a driving day. After breakfast, we will drive to Golmud. On the way you will enjoy the wild scenery of Gobi desert.


Day 9 Golmud - Tuotuo River - Nagqu

In the morning, we will drive to pass the Kunlun Mountain (4767 m), enjoy the beautiful scenery of the highland, and watch the block of animals cross Kekexili. And then we will pass the first bridge of the origination of Changjiang river---Tuotuo river bridge, pass the Tangula mountain, arrive Naqu.


Day 11 Nagqu - Nam-tso Lake - Lhasa

Today we will drive to the highest salty lake in the world---Namtso Lake (elevation 4718m), enjoying the sunset over the lake surface, which is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. And then we will drive directly to Lhasa. The rest time is at your leisure.


Day 12 Lhasa City Tour

Tour starts from the religious Potala Palace (3700 m )built in the 7th century by the famous Tibetan king-Songtzen Gampo. The present one was built by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. It became known as the "Winter Palace" by the 1750, when the 7th Dalai Lama built the Norbulingka Park as his summer residence. After lunch, you will visit Jokhang Temple, situated in the old section of Lhasa. King Songtzen Gampo built this temple in the mid-7th century A.D. Now it is the most sacred place in Tibet. Pilgrims come here to pay homage from all over Tibet. After that we will wander in Barkhore Street.


Day 13 Lhasa - Gyantse - Shigatse  

Drive to Gyantse after breakfast. On the way, dazzling Yamdrok-tso Lake (4441m) can be seen from the summit of the Kamba-la pass (4794m). Yamdrok is one of Three Holy Lake in Tibet. When you arrive at Gyantse, visit Pelkor Chode Monastery (4040m). The Monastery is founded in 1418, notable for its superb Kumbum Chode (10,000 Images Stupa). Later drive ahead to Shigatse.


Day 14 Shigatse - New Tinggri (Shegar) - Rongphu - Mt. Everest Base Camp

Early morning start driving to Rongphu via Shegar. The road is a bit rough; on the way you will cross over Gyatsola Pass at 5,220 m. Rongphu Monastery is the highest monastery in Tibet, still a good point to see Mt. Everst. If the weather is good enough, you will have a chance to see the sunset. Overynight at E.B.C tent Guesthouse. (dorm beds).


Day 15 Mt. E.B.C - Shigatse 

If you are lucky enough, you will see sunrise at Everest Base Camp, then go back to rongbuk and start driving back to Shigatse.


Day 16 Shigatse - Lhasa 

In the morning we will visit the Bachen Lama Set - Tashilunpo Monastery, which was built in1447 by the first Dalai Lama. After lunch, we will drive back to Lhasa along Yarlong Tsangpo River.


Day 17 Lhasa departure 

Your 17 Days Chengdu-Qinghai-Tibet Overland Tour is near the end. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
