Tibet, the remote and mainly Buddhist territory, is known as the ‘roof of the world'. Namtso is known as one of the most beautiful natural sights in Tibet. When the ice melts in the late April, the lake is a misraculous shade of turquoise and there is magnificent view of the nearby mountains. Tibetan Culture and Namtso Tour takes you to see glittering mountains, turquoise lakes and over high passes draped with prayer flags and visit ages holy monasteries and temples will give you an impressive life-long memory.




Day 1__Arrival in Lhasa 3650m

Arrive in the holy city Lhasa, capital of the mystical Buddhist Kingdom of Tibet. You are greeted by tour guide at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day will be at leisure for you to relax and adjust to the high altitude.


Day 2__Lhasa City Tour 3650m

Lhasa City Tour to Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhore Street.

Potala Palace: (3700 m) built in the 7th century by the famous Tibetan king, Songtzen Gampo. The present one was built by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. It became known as the "Winter Palace" by the 1750, when the 7th Dalai Lama built the Norbulingka Park as his summer residence.

Jokhang Temple: situated in the old section of Lhasa. King Songtzen Gampo built this temple in the mid-7th century A.D. Now it is the most sacred place in Tibet. Pilgrims come here to pay homage from all over Tibet.

Barkhore Street: Spiritual souvenirs and pilgrim accessories line the entire circuit, with stalls selling prayer flags, amulets, turquoise jewellery, Tibetan boots, cowboy hats, yak butter and juniper incense. It’s the perfect place to start your explorations of Lhasa, and the last spot you’ll want to see before you bid the city farewell.




Day 3__Lhasa 3650m to Namtso Lake 4700m

After visit Drepung Monastery, we will drive to Namtso Lake (4718m) via Yangpachen hot-spring. Overnight at guest house.

Drepung Monastery: is the largest of the monastery of the Gelug Sect in Tibet. Along with Sera and Ganden Monasteries, Drepung functioned as one of the three 'pillars of Tibetan state' and this one was purportedly the largest monastery in the world, with around 7000 resident monks at its peak.

Lhasa to Namtso Lake: You will have a chance to see Nyenchen Thanglha snow mountain ranges, and pass the Nagela(5190m). Namtso Lake is the sky lake which is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet; also the highest salt lake.


Day 4__Namtso Lake 4700m to Tsetang 3650m

After breakfast, you will explore around Namtso Lake including meditation caves. After that we will drive to Tsetang.


Day 5__Tsetang Day Tour 3650m

Today you will visit the Yongbulakang Palace and Samye Monastery.

Yongbulakang Palace: according to historical records, it is the very first palace in Tibetan history established two century B.C. The palace was reconstructed as a temple by Srongtsen Gampo. And he lived there with Princess Wencheng in summer. Then the temple was rebuilt by the fifth Dalai as a temple of Shamanism.

Samye Monastery: Situated amidst breathtaking scenery, the journey to Samye is splendid. The layout of the huge monastery complex forms a giant mandala, a representation of the Buddhist universe, and is modeled after the Indian temple of Odantapuri in Bihar.




Day 6__Tsetang 3650m to Lhasa airport 3600m

After breakfast you will visit the Mingdorling Monastery. After that we will drive to Lhasa airport for your afternoon fight back to Chengdu.

Mingdorling Monastery: the famous monastery for Ningma - pa sect, once the Fifth Dalhai Lhama was obsessed with the teachings and rituals of Ningma - pa order.
